Being a Wedding Guest

So on Saturday my lovely daughter was a bridesmaid for the first time. I planned on sitting on the side lines and enjoying the event. It's a rare occasion for me to not be the photographer, and being the Mom of the brides maid was a sweet treat.

Turns out I wasn't on the sidelines for long though. I ended up helping out the photographer, (on request, believe me when I say I would never step in!), as well as I was asked by the father of the bride to que the bridal party as when to start their turn walking down the isle. I enjoyed helping out very much, because even though I was ready to sit on the side lines I really don't know what to do with nothing to do at a wedding! ha

From my vantage point I did get to snap a few images, as I had intended to photograph my daughter somewhat anyway. So here are my 'guest images' from Aubrea and Barry's Saturday wedding.

My daughter is the shorter one. :-) The other lovely bridesmaid is her most excellent friend Kat.

In the middle is Melody the gutsy 16 year old friend of the family that photographed the wedding. She earned my respect with her nerves of steel. ;-) Great to know you, your going to go far.

After the day was pretty much over, and before best light disappeared over the horizon. I requested the bride allow me a few minutes to take some bridals for my own enjoyment. Considering she has had a long day and already worked with Melody, I was happy she said yes. ;-) So here is my take on bride.

The blissful couple will be moving to Oklahoma after their honeymoon. Best wishes on their new life.

The other lovely surprise I had was a sweet friend just returned from a trip to Ecuador, she was a volunteer in a bible education work for 3 months. She literally flew in just in time to make the wedding. I had so much fun visiting with her and some other friends during the reception. A treat for me to visit at a reception! tee hee

Denise and Ramon // Engagement Columbia, TN

Denise and Ramon are so beautifully in love. I swear Ramon is walking on a cushion of air when he is with Denise. It's a goose bump treat to see their love. A fun fact about them is theirs is a long distance relationship. Yes there is hope for that special one who seems too far away to make things work. They are getting married in July.

They have a link to two of my past weddings. I've had the pleasure of photographing them within bridal party's. This for me makes their choosing me as their own wedding photographer even more special. I believe it's an even higher compliment when your clients come back to you. So of course I always end up putting more of my heart into my work for them.

We didn't let the rain, gloom, and chill scare us off. We enjoyed beautiful historic Columbia, TN. We had a blast and with more than a little help once the rain picked back up from the MOB, we got their story! Enjoy their teaser:

One of the fun things I did with them was let them write their own messages on my chalk boards. I had them do it where the other could not see what they wrote, so this is the BIG reveal! ;-) Now Denise knows why her Mom and I were swooning over what Ramon wrote. I just love his message to Denise. Denise knows her forever is the real deal.

Last and not least was my helper, Denise's Mom. She was waiting in their vehicle, and we had to bring her out when the rain started. She was a trooper, you would have thought the woman had 4 arms. tee hee I don't know what we would have done without her.

Nashville Zoo

I know it's hard to believe with all this freezing cold rain and gloom that it was beautiful and warm enough for a trip to the zoo in shorts just a few days ago. Which is exactly why I grabbed the kids and took a spontaneous trip to get in a good walk, and see the animals. ;-) ha

I tend to love the same few animals, as far as my photographing them goes. The kids, the cats, the meerkats, the flamingo's, and a monkey or two when I can get a good one of them.
The meerkats were so cute, they have some babies or maybe they are juveniles? They were spunky and fun to watch.

I think this is so cute the up and close view for the kids of the meerkats.

Harrisen had to get on his knees to be the same height as Nevin and his friend. He has grown SO much this year it's mind boggling.

As you can see I'm loving the cats this day...

Only one of the Monkeys turned enough to see it's face. Such beautiful and comical creatures.

The Flamingo's were having a one on one tiff, which was fun to photograph and watch.

Which ended quitely in a stare down.

The petting zoo is always a hit, no matter what the age. Nevin was so tired we sat on the bench outside the area, and just observed the others.

Finally back past the meerkats for one last glimpse of their antics.

I know a bit typical, but hey it was fun, good for the body and mind to walk, get sun shine (we sorely are missing the sun today), and be close to the animals.

Not-A-Workshop

Last Saturday I drove into Nashville with a new friend Kim Barnes. We had the fun of getting together with a 'batch' ;o) of photographers. I believe that was the word settled on as we wondered what to call ourselves as we walked through Joshua Gulls nearby location chosen for our shooting at each other.
We started out at Joshua's house, getting to know each other, and talking shop. We quickly headed out, with fellow photographers who had volunteered to demonstrate their own work style, as well as some who modeled for the rest of us.

Joshua started us out under a nice bridge with a creek running under it, his models were Annabelle Dando and her boy friend.

We were focused on each other, shooting, listening, learning, conversing. I think I learned as much about myself as I did about other peoples styles. We also had a lot of fun.

The next photographer who showed how he thinks when photographing was Rich Lavigne . He discussed with us what lenses he choose and why he liked them, also some of his favorite camera settings. He was one of our speakers post shooting, and shared many tips we all appreciated.

We moved away from the bridge location with Andy Stacy continuing to model for us with his beautiful girl friend Kayla. Instruction was then lead by Kristen Steele

...who had Andy and Kayla walk out onto a wooden bridge over the creek. Little did most of know, but when Andy went down on bended knee he wasn't pretending, this was an actual proposal!

This is when I got serious about taking some images. I hadn't really concentrated on taking beautiful images, because I was busy listening to other photographers thought processes, and sharing some of mine. So here are a few I worked on. I want to give Andy a kick, because of his choice in shirts though, lol. Solid shirt dude makes better photographs, but huge props for having the most photographed by professional photographers engagement ever!

Our next volunteer to demonstrate how she thinks when photographing a couple, in the challenge of high noon sun light, was our previous model Annabelle Dando.

Her volunteer models were none other than Mark and Noelle McCoy, husband and wife team of McCoy Made.

After all these demonstrations, we walked back to Joshua house for pizza and image processing. This was also really enjoyable and informative. I took away a few great tips. I also came away from all of my time with my fellow photographers loving how I think even more. It was a confidence booster in several ways, and I truly enjoyed getting to know these great people. I had so much fun I stayed through to the after dark hours where we just generally fooled around with remote flash and the full moon. ha

I'm definitely going to be on the list for next years event.

Chrissie and Mike // Family Portraits Nashville

One of my favorite families, in one of my favorite locations in Nashville, one of the first beautiful Spring days of the year, made for a fabulous session! I love the Smiths, you likely remember them as well. I've been photographing them since they were engaged. I love working with them, because they get it! They are always completely relaxed and ready to crank up the fun for my sessions. As you'll see in their teaser we had a blast, and captured the spirit of their happy marriage, and family.

BeWell Chiropractic Kids Party // Spring Hill, TN

Scheduled for the fun date of 1-11-11, TN's crazy winter weather had other plans. The roads were bad, and as we all know who live here it's best to wait them out. So BeWell Chiropractic Kids Party was rescheduled for 3-1-11, close enough. ;-) The roads were safe, the cake from Dr. Janelle's own wedding cake provider had arrived for all to enjoy. The party was on!
I had a great time being the photographer at this event. For two reasons, I love my job, and in this case more importantly I love the Doctors Hutti!
My personal experience with them has been nearly two years of the best chiropractic care I've ever received. This is a big deal coming from me, because I grew up since the age of nine under the care of chiropractors. I even became a chiropractic x-ray tech in the state of Louisiana in my past life, (I jokingly refer to that job as my first photography position. giggle).
I've never had anyone so dedicated to my entire well being as well as that of my family. They have us covered, from our hearts, souls, and allergies, ;-). My family sees the Hutti's before any other doctor on our plan.
Now back to the party! As you will see they have many beautiful, happy, healthy patients who had a great time, and are wonderful subjects for my lens.

Jamie and Juan // Thompson Station Wedding TN

I've been neglecting my blog way too much of late. I am going to make up for that this week, and catch up on all my should have posted by nows. ;-)

In December I photographed a smaller last minute wedding, and had a wonderful time with this very happy couple. Jamie and Juan, are so loved by their friends and family. It was a rainy day at the end of 2010, and there was no gloom to be found. The location Thompson Station Church made the setting. Here are some of my favorites from their day.

My Sweet Nashville Nephews

So finally now that flu season came and went, with several weeks in February of my household and self being sick. It's spring! Everyone is well, and I was able to spend some time at my sisters and visit. My nephews are such BIG boys now, and their new addition Briley the Boxer is a perfect fit for the family. I can't wait to schedule a formal session with them again, for now though these around the house images will do the trick.

When friends move

I think we've all been through this on one side of it or the other, or if your like me you've been through way too many times. What? moving away or being left behind. In our lives these days moving across the country seems to be the norm for families anymore. No longer are the days of getting a job that lasts your life time and you raise your family in one town. So we all have either left friends and loved ones behind, or been left by those who've had to go.
On the 31st we had good friends move away, it's almost at this point epidemic in my life time. For my children though it's been particularly tough. What I'm grateful for is that for them, electronic devises keep things simple and my hope is they will not loose their friends, but only grow and have more friends. ;-)
On moving day, just hours before the driving away, we took a few minutes and captured the 'crew'. These kids have been wonderful to and for each other, they keep each other out of trouble, grown in their spiritual lives, wrote and played music, shopped, movies, game nights, sleep overs. The gamut of what you do when your a kid and free to live life with great friends.
Two are now gone to their new lives, and 3 are here to regroup and find a way to fill the void. This photograph I hope will keep them remembering the great times and how good they all were and will be for each other. Friendships do not have to end due to distance anymore, no waiting for a hand written letter for days, weeks, months to get across the country. A simple 30 sec text and push send is all they have to do to say hello, and keep up with each other. I'm so grateful because these are great kids, I'll miss the days they spent together.

Conaway Family

Sunday, last Sunday when the snow was coming down fast. I spent the late afternoon with the Conaway family. I've photographed Cindy in the past, yet this was my first time capturing her family. What a pleasure! Such a beautiful family, and Keaton is I must say the happiest best baby I've worked with in a while. He never got cranky even though we worked him and cooed at him, and coaxed smiles out of him endlessly. lol Most babies his age would have tired of all the fuss and attention much sooner. Here are my personal favorites from their session.

The Mahoney Family

The Mahoney family have a beautiful Mastiff he was SO sweet! He is four and was the perfect gentleman. Mom Mary really impressed me, she was recovering from back pain and yet she looked relaxed and beautiful in all the portraits. Dad and the boys must have taught Caesar how to behave like a gentleman as all 3 of the Mahoney men were polite and kind. I had to get everyone into some tickling to loosen them up, and LOVE seeing a family have a little fun in front of my camera. Enjoy their teasers.

This shot has some harsh lighting, but I love it because as everyone is sitting down you can see the ease on their faces. And isn't Caesar beautifully lit? ha His fur loves the sunlight.

Carmichael Family

The Carmichael family I loved. They were so happy and had a good time. Their dogs were really cute, and one of them wasn't so sure he was happy about portraits. ha So we did some with and some without. Mom Janet is one of the volunteers at Snooty Giggles, and she worked really hard for this event. I was glad we had finally met in person, as everything had happened in email and phone calls. I love what I do, I meet families from this stand point of observation, working to relax and bring out who they are. As you can see this family is a joyful crew, and maybe that is in part to their dog rescue work. Giving back makes us better people. :-)

Berger's and more Berger's

So last weekend was my portrait event. An attempt to help out Snooty Giggles dog rescue (click and become a FAN!) as seeing all the dogs given help each year on their Facebook page just made me want to do something. The Berger and the Berger families were two who participated in the event. I had a GREAT time photographing them all. We worked fast, and I love the fun we had. It's amazing what can be done in a short time when everyone is ready and willing to make great portraits happen.

As can be clearly seen I work hard to make sure it's a FUN experience to have your family portraits made. I know how hard it can be on Mom, getting everyone dressed, and Dad's on board. Getting everyone to relax, laugh, and get into the fun is so important to get those wonderful real shots. I just loved the Berger/Berger session!

Laura-Kate is one of those girls you think may not even exist anymore, especially if you have ever seen a so called reality tv show. She is strong, beautiful, confident, and respects her parents. I do not know about you, for me though there are few things more tender than the face of an adorable dog hoping to be saved by adoption. The problem is my home and life isn't as big as my heart wishes to be. I have our family shelter rescue already, and she's wonderful! I also have another dog, our lap dog baby. Two is enough for right now. Don't you feel the same way? You want to help, and do not have room for a new baby right now?

So what is a photographer to do, when she is acquainted with someone who amazingly dedicates herself to dog rescue. Someone who's facebook posts tear at your heart and you want to help anyway you can? That someone I'm speaking of is Shawn Aswad the driving force behind Snooty Giggles Dog rescue (click to see fb fan page) right here based in Thompson Station/Spring Hill. She is also the amazing artist creating some of the funnest finds in Williamson county and likely well beyond. At her home/shop The Silo. Her creations fund her rescue work. How can one not admire and want to take action to help another creative, giving soul, in such an honorable work? She already has a wonderful loyal client base for her creations.

So what can I do? Well I can give my talent to the cause. I've been working on this concept for about a month maybe longer now. When I first contacted Shawn there were many rough edges to my idea. Well it's all come together and I couldn't be more excited!

One of the huge factors to working this out, a mini session fund raiser for Snooty Giggles, has been location. Where will we host these portrait sessions. Well one good deed encourages another, and one of Shawns close friends saved the day! Dr. Michele Preston DVM and her colleague Dr. Blake Malone DVM are opening a new practice in Franklin. They have the most beautiful grounds, and have remade a historic home into a picturesque location for their veterinarian care. Animalia is so lovely! you'll want to bring your pet in just for the experience of peace and beauty that will surround you as your pet is cared for.

I've already begun taking my first bookings for these mini session time slots. I've set the timing of the event so that Shawns devoted clients can bring in their extended family as well. While people gather this up coming weekend, they will be taking a few minutes out of their family time. While with me, I'll be capturing the spirit of their family joy, some with pets some humans. All of our time, effort for the great cause of helping fund Snooty Giggles efforts, and providing precious memories of joy for those who participate.

I'll be taking bookings for these sessions from Shawns Silo customers first. Ashley 2011 Senior

Saturday in the humid July evening heat, Ashley, her Mom, myself and my daughter got out there and made it happen! We had a really good time, and the evening glow with a bit of a breeze made everything go just right. I just totally enjoyed photographing Ashley, she was light hearted, happy, and quickly got comfortable in front of the lens. I went a little crazy and ran over time even because she was so great and the light was amazing I lost track of the time! ha I'm so glad I did though because I love all the variety we captured. Michael and Theresa got married!

Grayson Harris has arrived!

My sister has a new addition to her family. I was at the hospital when he was born, just happened to get there near time for his delivery.

It's been a little over two weeks already since his arrival, and I did get a chance to load up my equipment and do a mini photo session with him. My sister isn't a fan of those bare bottom pictures, so we did a few with his clothes on. He was nine days old in these, just a few of my favorites from my visit that afternoon. Also the two birth announcements I designed for her, she choose the brown and red one. ;-)

I just happen to think they are still cute even when they are crying. ;-)

Rachel & Lee get married!

Saturday I drove out to Summertown. I've never been out this way, and it's a very pretty drive through Tennessee! I meet up with Bride, Groom, wedding party and family for some captures before the ceremony. What a fun group! We had a really nice time under the shade of a large tree.

Rachel and Lee had the most romantic, real, authentic vows. I loved their ceremony! Then the toasts at the reception gave everyone the emotional ride of laughter, tears, joy and just plain heart felt warmth! All in support of this perfectly matched pair. Friday I had a blast with Cassie and Joe. I first meet them at Cassie's sisters wedding. It was really fun photographing just the pair of them, capturing their joy and romance. We had threatening weather coming in and so I felt a little rushed to make sure we had variety in their session before the clouds burst! Trip to the Zoo

Friday, yeah back when it felt like a Spring day. ha ha We made a sudden trip to the zoo. OK the kids begged me until I caved. It was such a wonderful afternoon. We really needed it anyhow. So here's a bit of our fun in photo's.

We also ran into a few friends while we where there. yeah!

Oh come one who doesn't like Meerkats!? lol

My three in the petting zoo. Miranda attempted to capture the goats fighting, but none of the images came out. It's very hard to capture fast moving goats! ;-)

Because we stayed until closing time, the monkeys were just coming back out to play and be active. Gave me a chance to grab a few fun shots on our way out.

So there you have it a glimpse into our day at the zoo. We hadn't been in a very long time. We spent 6 hours there, and saw everything! Even the house and farm, and Amphibian house. WHEW we were really wore out! Still it's one of the nicest times I've had with my kids, just us doing something wonderful together just because, I've had a long while. :-)

This morning on this less than Spring like day. I met the Smith family for an outdoor session. Today was special for them, and I was really happy to be a part of the celebration. Keeping up with Riley was a whole other challenge to the fun. What a cutie! She is just full of smiles and energy, and I got home grateful for the few shots we managed when she wasn't running away from us. ;-) Her Daddy was amazing keeping up with her. Here's a couple captures from our morning.

Winter Blast

Today we headed out as a family to sled down the nearest big hill with in walking distance from our house. It was cold, icy and wonderful! We had so much fun sledding and screaming. :-) I even took my turn down the hill on the sled. In the distance was an old barn no longer in use, so I had to leave my family for a little while hike out and photograph the peaceful frozen winter quiet that had over taken it. Thought I would share my take on today's beauty left by our weather from yesterday.

Today I got to visit my sweet nephew. It's been a while, first I was super busy, then when things slowed down I got a cold and had to wait till I was sure not bring any germs to his house. My sister is expecting his little brother this summer. It was so nice seeing her with that pregnancy glow and her tummy so round and cute! An adoption story

This week I had a new experience. I was invited to photograph/document adoption proceedings. This family is so loving, the joy, tears, laughter had me emotional as well. You could tell the judge more than enjoyed this aspect of his day. He was really interested in the family to be. I created a slide show, you can see the emotions very clearly. The professionals involved in making this happen are in these shots as well, you can tell they are so proud to have been a part of helping a family come together.

This morning I drove down to Fayetville, to capture sweet cousins. We all worked hard, me and both Mommies as we attempted to get two eager toddlers to tolerate our direction to get a few good shots. Between the gorgeous weather, the open fields and Grandpa's tractor, holding their interest in a photo shoot was a big challenge. Still I love the ones we did get, and I think everyone will be happy. I feel it was worth the effort and the fun. What do you think?

Today I had a wonderful family session. Most of the family preferred to keep their images for their eye's only. Keren and Eric however wanted to see a glimpse ahead of time and gave me the go ahead for the few I took of the pair of them. Their animoto is very short, as much of the session was spent capturing the family and then each couple. Everyone has a few images, and then several groupings. I had a great time meeting them, and good time using the Parthenon for the first time in ages. Well enjoy this mini preview, it's all you'll get from today's family session. ;-)

I finally had the chance to give my daughter her own session. She decided though to invite her best friend, and so we had even more fun combining their sessions. It's a great idea if you think your child/teen will be shy about having their portraits captured to make it into a friendship session. Spring Hill's Chamber of Commerce "Inaugural Red Carpet Masquerade Ball"!

Saturday evening I had the pleasure of watching Spring Hill come to life with it's first ever Masquerade Ball. It was hosted at the Historic Oak Lawn Plantation home, a wonderful tour was given to any guests who wanted to see and learn more about this historic gem in our community by Jimmy Campbell. The event was sponsored by Tri-Star Medical Center and co-sponsored by Charter Business.

The Ball was also a silent auction fund raising event for Well Food Pantry, helping local families in need. Featured music was provided by the Bicho Bros. Band under the tent with the dance floor. Inside the beautiful home while the guests browsed for their favorite Auction items they were entertained by Deanna Loveland playing the Harp. One of highlights was the parade of those in masks before Mayor Michael Dinwiddie, who then choose the nights best mask!
There were many more highlights, foods, wines, coverage by V.I.P. magazine, then all the donated auction items... but to share the mood and gaiety of the event I've put together some highlights in a slide show. Do you see people you know? Were you there? Wish you had been there? Lets hope the Chamber offers our community such a grand event again next year!

Cindy's fun and professional session

Cindy is a beautiful professional woman. I really enjoyed my afternoon with her. She is a real estate agent who wanted to get the most out of her experience from her photo session. I'm really excited about the images we captured, both fun and for her professional use. This weekend, I had a really great time with lovely Bri. She's bubbly, funny, and definitely photogenic. Tween sessions are some of my favorites to do!

Tween sessions are such a wonderful self esteem boost, yet more importantly.... this is an age in your child's life that is often missed out on. You end up looking back at their baby pictures to find out all you have after that are those cheesy school portraits, and some vacation snap shots, before you know it they are Graduating High School and off to college. I recommend finding a year between 9-12 years of age, and investing in your child's professional portrait session. Don't miss out on this wonderful stage in their childhood.

Yesterday I worked with Natalie Casler to shoot her pre-wedding day bridals. Her MOH and hair stylist Hope, had her looking fabulous. Her location was South Creek Farms in Spring Hill, and it had everything to offer in making the most of Natalie's beauty in her lovely Bridal Gown.

This morning I meet up with Samantha and her parents for a nature walk, and photo session. She was chipper and newly walking! It was really fun seeing her explore the gardens. We all got our exercise as we went from spot to spot finding just the right light and back grounds to show off how much she's grown. I am excited to get through all the captures and finish up my edits so Mom and Dad can enjoy them.

Today we tried a new to us Salon here in Spring Hill, and we've been to more than a few over the years. This time we were thrilled with the stylist's attention and skill. His name is Mark and he's to be found at Salon Blonde. Our friend sent us his way after he did a great job on her long hair. (to me if a stylist does long hair right they are really good)
Well Miranda's had long hair most of her life, and really wanted a drastic change. Not something you entrust to just anyone. Choosing Mark was the right way to go. She feels GREAT, and so loves her new do.

Baby shower for Amanda and Ted

This past weekend I threw a baby shower for my beloved friends Amanda and Ted. I had lots of help, so everything went really smoothly. A long list of people who took part in making it as special as it was. It was so nice opening my home and seeing them so well supported into their new adventure of being parents. Friday afternoon, I had the pleasure of meeting the Weinger Family. Three generations of lovely women, I know Mr. Weinger is a pleased man to have such beauty to come home too. I wish we would have had time to include their sensational dogs in the session, they have two amazing golden retrievers. (I don't know if they were boys to even the odds for Mr. Weinger or not. lol). This morning Isaiah started my day with his sweet smiles, and blue eyes. Momma wanted a music theme and Daddy wanted bubbles. It was easy to fit both into his session today. At 9 months he really did cooperate very nicely with all we asked of him. He's on the verge of walking, so I know next session he is going to really challenge me to keep up with his new mobility and keep my camera in focus. tee hee Anyhow, here are a few pics from his session.

My hubby picked this weekend to work on my computer, so his entire session will be a little longer wait than my usual. Still I have to have it worked on and up graded to keep pace with my work load and all these images! ;o) So check back mid week or later to find the link for his whole session.

Marti's Bayou Cafe food shoot

UPDATE: ( Marti's has decided that with the closing of the GM plant that they must also close their doors. They will be so missed. When I posted these pic's so many said "I didn't even know they were there." If your business has been putting off pictures, consider the impact professional photography can have on the public realizing what you have to offer. Using them in AD's and Facebook Fan pages etc can make a difference. )

Today was such a treat for me. For two and a half years I've been frequenting Marti's Bayou Cafe in the Commons of Spring Hill, right off HWY 31. I lived in Louisiana for a good part of my life, and missing the food the 9 years I've been raising my family in TN had been like a drought on my food soul.

That was until Marti Opened her Bayou Cafe of all places right here in Spring Hill!
Marti is a seasoned Cafe owner, she knows her stuff. In fact when you visit you can read a newspaper article she has framed all about how the stars of the movie "Steel Magnolia's" where served real Louisiana Cuisine at Marti's Cafe back in the 80's. You see she is also a Louisiana transplant here to our local.

I hope you 'see' from these pictures if you haven't been to Marti's as of yet, that you are missing out! Get over there and soon! For your 'Taste of Louisiana, Where Lagniappe Rules, 'Always a Little Extra'". ... Remember Friday's she's open for dinner, and Saturday morning for New Orleans French Quater Beignets and real Community Coffee!

The Last Dance

My daughters good friends had their final performance this past weekend. They did a beautiful job, and asked me to come to take their fare well photograph's. I have to say it's fun to watch the entire show, and as usual the little ones just make you have fun time. Of course I can only post images of the ones I was there to document. UP day with the Huisinga's

Had a day with our old friends the Huisinga's. They are a beautiful family we use to live next door to in our apartment, learning to Homeschool days. We owe them so much for giving us the knowledge we had the right to choose for our children.
We had pizza the park, Sonic happy hour, then we saw the movie UP together. WOW what a movie, Lynette and I laughed and cried so many times! I think it was a wonderful beautiful movie, a master piece. Is that my life, hormones, being with old friends? Maybe it's all of it, but I say go see it, you will get more out of it than your kids do. ha ;-)
It was a happy reunion with old friends. What a wonderful day we had.

Just a quick few shots of a Coffee Table book from my last Senior Session. These were quick grab shots (didn't use lighting I should have but in a hurry) before delivery to the client. Yet, I didn't post until they had it in hand. Just a wonderful solution when there are two many photo's to choose from, and not enough wall space! lol I love doing custom books for my clients. I design their covers personally and individually so every ones book is unique. I love full bleed magazine style pages, but other options are available of course.

Visited Franklin Farmers Market for the first time today. Found some wonderful treasures.

I read the article about Twin Forks Breads online once. Someone sent to me? Anyhow, didn't know they were to be found at the Franklin Market. Bought two loafs and already I can tell it won't be enough! Oh my made the best Turkey Swiss sandwich with slices this afternoon.

Saturday was a stormy, wet, blustery day. Danielle and Joe's planned outdoor wedding was moved inside. Their spirits were not affected by the weather conditions, and the wedding day was full of joy and beauty. Choosing a few images to post on my blog was so difficult! This afternoon was a real treat for me. I just love working with a brand new bundle, and William offered all the sweet wonders tiny people bring. He made me feel so guilty when he fussed, but at the same time it's so CUTE when they do. tee hee Enjoy Williams pictures, he's 5 days old.

His big sister is a real doll with lots of personality, she had many idea's of things she would be doing as a new big sister. One she can't wait to teach him to brush his teeth. lol I think it will be a little while before she gets to share that life skill. ;o)

Today I had a really good time with Bradley. He was really great about letting me harass him. He tried new things, and relaxed in front of the lens before he knew it. I hope he had as much fun as I did. I love the results I hope he and his Mom do to.

Braden meets his cousins!

Braden meets his cousins! We spent an entire afternoon at Aunt Stephanie's, my boys and Miranda have really missed their Aunt Stephanie. Braden was reserved at first, but by the end of our visit was really laughing at Cousin Harrisen's antics he performed special for Braden's benefit. lol

This evening was dedicated to Isaiah. He is 6 months on Monday, and has grown so much. His eyes are the most amazing blue! It's spring (for the next few hours as we all are talking about the winter blast we are about to get), and we did our best to capture the mood of spring in his session. Oh and this first image, no smile, Mommy and Daddy, and I worked hard to get one out of him but we didn't succeed till later in his session. So Mr. Serious face is what we got here. Still adorable!

Saturday was a real weather challenge, we had tornado watches and severe storm warnings. The wind was fierce. My bride had to remove her veil off to keep it from taking off! lol We met the challenges though, and I'm so happy with the results. The sky's were very beautiful with clouds and sparkling blues, and the wind made for some very dynamic images of her train flowing in the gusts. I wish I could share them, but she wants to her groom in suspense for the walk down the isle. I'll have to post a few after their date in mid May.

My trip to Rockford, Ill. was really great. My children and I had a very nice visit with my Mom and her husband. For those of you that don't know, it's the city of my birth and young childhood.
In all these years I know only a few people from there now, and one of them is Di and her baby Rubi. She doesn't live in Rockford anymore either, but drove from Wisconsin just so I could photograph her baby girl. Which was a privilege and a treat, as any one knows doing something this special for a friend is full filling in all ways.
She looked wonderful and of all people I know is the most natural calm Mom ever. Her sweet Rubi was a joy to interact with and a real trooper for all we put her through! lol Babies work hard in my sessions, super models work hard I'm telling you it's true. LOL ;o) Enjoy her sweet face, these images were taken in my Mom's home. I love adapting to whatever settings I have available.

I've not had too much going on of late. The weather is clearing and I'll have some new images posted soon enough. I'm making a trip up to my childhood home town. My children have never been up there. I'm hoping to take lots of photographs, and do a session for a friends pretty teen red head, and another friends 3 month old.
My May bride's bridal shoot will be when I get back. I don't know if I'll be allowed to post any of the shots till after her wedding day.
Then I have an adorable baby boys spring session to look forward too first of April. So soon there will be many new images to enjoy.

With Janel's permission here is her story:
Well I met my fiancee in 2003 while attending MTSU. I saw him across the room and I thought he was so cute, but the problem was he was younger!!!!!!! So I knew I was not interested in dating a younger guy. So we still exchanged numbers and remained friends. So in April 2007 I went to an event at the college and there he was. Now I hadn't seen him in awhile but he was looking very good. So again we exchanged number, throwing caution of age, in the wind. We talked on the phone for a while, went on a date, and after a couple of months we were an item. Now through this whole process of dating and getting to know each other, he had started figuring out my ways and how I would mess a surprise up when he tried to do anything special without my knowledge. So I'm sure he figured it would be too hard to ask for my hand in marriage because he knew I was looking for it each and every day. So when Valentines 2009 came around, I so was hoping that he would ask me, but of course he didn't. So I was so sad. So Feb 17 came along. Just a regular ordinary day. Just working and coming home to cook dinner and rest. So when I got home, I opened the door and the room was lit with candles everywhere. Rose petals on the floor, dinner and wine on the table. So he came from the room with a teddy bear and told me how much he loved him. Now lets pause for a sec because you know I was not expecting this period so I was very shocked, surprised, everything. So he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. So I looked around the teddy bears neck and what do you know, there was my ring!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I said YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The little bit of warm up inspired a quick session with my daughter. We were both in a mood for a mini shoot. I've got lots of other things I need to be doing, so I only edited a few and made one composite for my blog. I love fields as the sun goes down, the colors are so warm and serene.

Driving through Arkansas

Driving through Arkansas, gives a photographer so much temptation. I swear I could take days driving and stopping to photograph all the cool things just on the sides of the road in the Ozarks. I only indulged myself one time last weekend. Here is the result of my quick stop to photograph the left overs of time....

First Anniversary Shoot

This couple is a bit special to me. She's my Mom. I shot their wedding a year ago December. I was over for a visit this weekend. Getting to know Ken better, and having a quality weekend with my Mom. It's been a crazy year, and sometimes pretty rough. Seeing her happy though has been a comfort. When my Dad had passed away her being happy again, especially like this seemed so unlikely.
I hope they love their anniversary shots. They never got to have an engagement session, so this was a treat for me and them. Enjoy.

Today is my 18th wedding anniversary. I would post a great pic of the two of us, but I've realized I don't have one! lol Hmm.... I think I'll be booking an appointment with my good friend and fellow photographer Amanda, (Shutterbelle) soon! If I can ever get my DH to agree to a session. Yes, even me the photographer has the same problem some of my female clients have, "convincing the husband" into a shoot. LOL
Anyhow... 18 years seems like a long time, and we've had our hard times and good times. I'm looking forward to more years with my good husband. We've had a beautiful family together, and we both are so proud of our children. It never seemed possible so much time could go by so quickly. We even talk now about when the children are grown! Mind boggling that conversation has a place in my life already. lol
Well I'm going to go enjoy my special day. I'm hoping everyone is having a good January so far.

Today on this gloomy winters day, Isaiah and I had a great session. Our time was spent capturing him and how he's getting all grown up way too fast! He is so strong, and really adorable. Mommy & Daddy have every right to be so proud. He's going to give them a big job way too soon this year, because I think he'll be an early walker.... can't wait to find out if I'm right! lol ;o)

As usual after just a little while he'll go right to sleep for Mommy and we always get these adorable peaceful shots. Can't wait till spring to see how much he's changed again.

Linda's Visit

Well I've had such a crazy year. It ended and my new one has begun with a visit with my girl friend I've known and been friends with since we were toddlers. Our Mom's were friends and neighbors in the 70's. Wow! We have kept connected over many years, even though we've lived over a 1,000 miles apart for most of them. Since my move to TN we aren't as far, but still a good 10 hour trip.
We have been doing a photographers learning boot camp, as the local courses she had been taking weren't getting her anywhere. We've had so much fun, and her girls are darlings! They have endured much cold weather with bravery and smiles so we could practice what I've been teaching their Mom. Here are a few of my favorites from the past few days.

My SIL has the most incredibly beautiful family, and even though I'm biased I'm sure you will agree once you've seen the images from their session. I was so happy we made the trip to Louisiana, because having the chance to photograph them was a real treat for me. I also have to give our dearest friends Heather & David a huge thank you, because not only was their home where we stayed on our trip, it was also the location for Lillians session. As you will note the beauty of their older home was inspiration for me with Lillians images. I just LOVE this session, I hope you all enjoy it as well.
